The degree of burglary resistance of a safe is best expressed in its insurance rating. The higher the security level, the higher the insurance cover and therefore the greater the burglary protection against thermal and physical burglary tools. If the safe has certified or proven burglary protection, a test sticker is affixed to the inside of the door, which has been tested and certified by a neutral, independent testing institute such as VdS (Association of Property Insurers), ECBS (European Certification Body) or IMP (Institute for Precision Mechanics). Extensive tests are carried out with a wide variety of tools under precisely defined criteria before a safe is awarded the test badge.
There are many different gradations from simple safes, e.g. security level class 1, whose contents can only be insured up to EUR 65,000 to safes of class 4 – insurable up to EUR 400,000. These sums do not mean that you have to insure the safe, but it is a good benchmark for the security of your safe.
If you wish to insure the contents, we recommend that you clarify the security level with your insurance company before purchasing.
